I'm back...
Hallo!!! (as they say it in Germany)... hope you are all doing well... I'm doing really good, glad to be back in England though, in my own bed! We had an amazing time, I saw so many incredible things, so keep your eyes peeled on my blog for constant photo updates over the next few days (possibly weeks, lol).... alright be prepared for the longest email ever, so we first went to Munich, we arrived around 8:00 at night, so it was dark. And when we finally got out of the airport we had no idea what to do, we were so lost and hadn't a clue on how to get to the hostel... you know when you see people in Canada speaking some foreign European language you think cool, ya no, it sucks not knowing what any of the signs mean! I was starting to freak out after we talked to a german taxi driver, and then a german/french-(it does come in handy sometimes) taxi driver who both barely spoke english and we determined that it would cost 50 euros to taxi to our hostel, so we vetoed that pretty quick. After about an hour and a half we finally found the U-bahn (or subway) and were able to train to the nearest station from our hostel and at that point we had no idea where to go, so we randomly chose a direction and we were right and found it within 5 minutes, that was great! The hostel was quite nice actually, I think there were 4 bunk beds in the room, plus a bathroom. Anyways, so the next day we took a tour of Munich seeing a bunch of different sites including where Hitler gave his first speech, and then we went on another tour to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, which was amazing, but very emotional, I would defintely reccommend it though. It was quite powerful to be where all this stuff happened, but I'm really glad we saw it. The next day we took an amazing tour of the Linderhof and Neuschwanstein Castles of a late King of Bavaria... they were so amazing omg, we couldn't take pictures inside unfortunately because it was crazy on the inside, like gold everywhere, paintings on the walls all over, and a whole bunch of chandiliers, some weighing 2000 pounds and with over 100 candles! Madness, and Neuschwanstein (the bigger one) had a lake right buy it, along with some restaurants and shops, it was sooo beautiful, I loved it there, but the road to get up to the castle was under construction so we had to hike up it, omg, you will see in the pictures how high it was, it tooks like 40 minutes, like 70 degree angle upwards, I thought I was going to die... but also on this tour we drove down the autobahn (it was crazy, like our double decker luxury bus was going at least 120, and cars were just flying past!), and we saw the alps and went into a little town nestled near them, and did some souvenir shopping, which was really cool... the next day we flew to Berlin, which was my favorite place, here we did a free tour of the city, which was really cool, we saw everything from the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, and where Wacko Jacko hung his baby off the balcony!! Ya, that was Berlin.... we also went on a boat cruise along the Spree River, which was quite nice, but it was all in german, whooo... and we also ate lots of pretzels (baked bread ones), bratwurst and any other sausage imaginable, and tons of turkish food, omg it was the greatest thing ever!!! And, one night two museums were free, and we saw a greek exhibit and the egyptian one that was in Victoria a while ago, so that was cool!! But, the last night in Berlin sucked so much, because there were kids running around until 2 in the morning above us, and someone constantly banging the wall beside us (I mean like every 5 seconds, and I thought the building was going to collaspe it was so loud), and we had to wake up at 3:45 for our flight, ohhh it was brutal! Anyways so then we finished it all off in Vienna, which was nice, but it's kind of in our bad books because both our tours didn't show up, but whatever, it happens, so instead we went to the zoo (which is supposed to be one of the oldest in the world), and on a giant ferris wheel, much like the London Eye... it was really fun, we liked Vienna, but all the cities were so crazy expensive we couldn't afford anything, it sucked... so I bought some really good chocolate, some postcards, and badges (I'm buying a good bag and sewing on these badges that I'm going to get some every country, hard to explain, but it's cool). And ya, then on Sunday we flew home, but we forgot it was day light savings so we were so early, so that sucked, but otherwise all the flights were good, I got home around 4 on Sunday and just did laundry, I hate living out of a suitcase!!! But ya, I guess that's it for now, I'm sure you are all dying with bordem because I have rambled on long enough, but I hope you all had a fantastic week and are doing well, I miss you, lots of love xoxoxo
